Frequently Asked Questions

The analysis I need is not listed.  Does that mean that PTL does not offer it?

Our website only lists the most common analyses, so if you do not see yours listed please contact us. PTL also regularly works with clients to create custom analyses for those needing non-standard testing.

The ASTM, ISO or USP method I need is not listed.  Does that mean that PTL does not offer this analysis?

Not necessarily. We have listed the most common regulated methods on our website, however our capabilities extend to other methods. If your standard or method is not listed on our site, please contact us to inquire.

Where can I find the Laboratory Service Order (LSO) form and other forms I need?

Our Forms and Downloads are located under our "Knowledge Base" link.  Click here for our LSO, DEA Form 222 forms. These forms can be completed online before printing, or print a blank form to fill it out by hand.

What are your hours of business?

PTL is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Central Standard Time.

Do you receive samples on Saturday?

PTL is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. We do not receive deliveries on weekends.

Are you a GLP lab?

No – PTL does not comply with all requirements detailed in the GLP regulations (21 CFR Part 58).  However, PTL does comply with the cGMP regulations outlined in 21 CFR Parts 210 and 211.

What are your turn around times? When will I receive my results?

We offer three tiers for turnaround time. Standard means the preliminary data will be emailed to you within 10 business days. We then follow up with a signed final report about one week from the data email.

We also offer two quicker TATs: 6 business day with a 50% surcharge, and 2 business day with a 100% surcharge. Again, preliminary data will be emailed to you by the rush timing requested, and final reports will follow in about one week.

Since PTL handles all submissions on a first in first out basis (with the exception of "rush" requests), most of the time results for Standard TAT projects will be sent on the 10th business day.

How much sample do you need?

The amount of sample we will need depends on both the material type and the analysis to be completed.  Please contact us to find out the amount based on your individual need.

What steps do I take in order to begin an analysis?

Our sample process is described in a helpful infographic.  Please click here.

Do I need to submit an LSO every time I send samples for analysis?

What if I do not have an SDS (MSDS)?

Please provide a summary of the components/materials/chemicals in the sample, and also provide us information regarding what safety equipment is normally worn (PPE) when handling this material along with any instructions for handling, storage, and disposal. This may be submitted on your company letter head.

My samples are (water, soil, food ingredients, air pollution filters, etc) and do not have an SDS. What should I do?

Indicate under the "special instructions section" on the Laboratory Service Order (LSO) form, No SDS available and describe the source (e.g. water from waste water treatment plan) and/or any components of interest (e.g. ground peanut flour).

ShareFile is not giving me the option to create a new account, why?

If you DO NOT see the option to create an account with your own user name and password, that would mean that you have at some point accessed ShareFile in the past. In that case, you would simply need to reset your user name and/or password to access your documents. Instructions on how to get started is provided by clicking the following link. https://particletechlabs.com/knowledge-base1/paperless-reporting-sharefile

Is there a cost with creating a new account with ShareFile?

There is absolutely no cost to sign up in order to retrieve your documents using ShareFile. This is a free and secure way of retrieving your documents to review, download and share as you wish.

Can you email my report directly instead of using Sharefile?

We will happily accommodate your need, which is important to us; however our new standard policy is to provide final reports electronically via the Sharefile portal. The size capacity of color documents tend to become too large to send as a pdf by email. This has been the problem in the past for most of our deliverables which is in part, the reason for PTL going paperless and submitting reports via the ShareFile portal.
